Job Summary
This position begins July 1, 2011.
Plans, directs, and implements Cashier Services and debt collection. Supervises student collections and performs the more difficult and responsible duties such as troubleshooting problems, resolving complex customer service issues from a diverse customer population, monitoring integrity and accuracy of cash handling procedures.

Essential Functions
30% - Develops, monitors and evaluates cashiering procedures and workflow; hires, trains, and evaluates assigned staff; works with other department heads to resolve complex situations and to ensure a high level of service to our customers
30% - Supervises on-line cashiering and recordkeeping functions; this includes the collection of student fees, fines, loan payments, facility rentals, athletic and fund-raising events, etc.; supervises the disbursement of college funds for scholarships, financial aid, Veterans' Administration, payroll and paychecks, refunds, expense advances, and reimbursements; prepares spreadsheets, reports, and analysis of payment and debt information
10% - Ensures integrity of college petty cash funds; manages petty cash and vault funds;
conducts cash counts and fund replenishments; monitors (and may approve) expenditures
against college budget
10% - Coordinates purge function, debt processing, annual debt write off, and possible
payment plans for students; institutes collection proceedings as necessary for payment plans, defaults, non-sufficient checks, and other debts.  Works and interacts with students
10% - Serves as a liaison between the Cashiers' Office and other college/District offices;
works closely with Admissions and Financial Aid offices; advises and provides problem-solving assistance to college staff and administrators on Cashier matters
10% - Performs other related duties as assigned

 Minimum Qualifications
- College degree and/or experience in a college cashier/fiscal office
- Supervisory experience
- Experience in customer service, account analysis and reporting
- Experience with basic financial recordkeeping  methods/practices including cash control
- Experience with on-line accounting/computer systems, and office productivity software such as MS Office
- Experience communicating and interpreting fiscal policies and procedures
- Excellent written communication skills

 Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor's or higher degree in Accounting, Business Administration or a related field from a regionally accredited institution
- Three (3) or more  years of supervisory experience
- Three (3) or more years of fiscal/cashiering experience working in an educational setting interacting with faculty, staff, and students
- Peoplesoft experience.

Special Working Conditions
May require prolonged monitor viewing.  Some evenings and weekends.  Local travel; possession of a valid State of Arizona Class D Driver's License is required; must meet district minimum standards regarding driving:  http://www.maricopa.edu/legal/rmi/vehicle.htm#requirements
