Public Safety Update/Summary of Incidents/March 31 – April 6, 2013

April 2; 9:40 am: Public Safety was contacted by library staff regarding a subject that was rude to a student and argumentative with employees. The non-student was given a trespass warning for the Library.

April 5; 7:47 pm: Public Safety contacted an intoxicated student near the Library. Phoenix Fire was called to check his welfare. During this time the subject became aggressive and the Phoenix Police were called to assist. Phoenix Police released the student to his mom and the incident was referred to Administration for review/action.

April 6; 6:35 pm: Public Safety staff was called to the Gym regarding damage to the facility by a non-student. The incident was investigated and referred to athletics for damage recovery from the non-campus parties involved.

April 6; 11:30 am: Public Safety was advised by a student that his bicycle had been stolen from the bike rack near the Gym. No further information is available. CCTV was reviewed with negative results.

Other:

One medical incident was reported this week that did not require emergency transport.

Two motor vehicle accidents were reported during this time frame. One was a non-injury hit and run accident. The second report involved property damage at an off-site location.

Information: Public Safety continues to receive complaints throughout campus regarding parking violations. Vehicles parked improperly, to include at painted curbs indicating “No Parking”, will be cited.

Safety: Safety on our PC Campus is all of our concern and responsibility as involved community partners. If you see activity that appears suspicious and/or destructive, call Public Safety to report it: give the location, type of activity and descriptions of those involved if possible. They may be committing a crime or just need assistance that we can help with. The Safety Office phone is staffed 24/7. The number is 602-285-7254.

PC Public Safety Report

March 24^th to 31^st

March 26^th; 09:15 am: A student fell down the stairs in the Dalby Building. No medical attention was requested at the time the report was taken.

March 27^th; 09:15 am: A staff member injured their back when the chair they were sitting in malfunctioned causing them to fall backwards onto the floor. No medical attention was requested at the time.

March 30^th; 10:55 am: A juvenile playing soccer on the football field fell and broke their wrist. Phoenix Fire responded to treat and transport the subject to the hospital.

March 18; 1:30 pm: Public Safety was advised by staff that several VCR tapes were stolen from the Dental building sometime during the past several months. There are no suspects at this time.

March 19; 2:00 pm: Public Safety was advised by staff that a black nylon bag containing tools was stolen from one of the maintenance carts left overnight near the Old Mechanics Plant. CCTV was reviewed with negative results.

March 19; 10:15 am: Public Safety staff was called upon to assist the Phoenix Police Department in an ongoing investigation involving PC students. The activity had occurred off campus.

March 20; 10:45 am: Public Safety was advised by staff of a black gym bag containing jump ropes that had been stolen from a locked storage area within the gym. CCTV was reviewed with negative results from the time frame given.

Other:

Three medical incidents were reported this week; none required emergency transport.
