Public Safety Update/Summary of Incidents/Sept 3 – Sept 9, 2012
Sept. 13; 12:25 pm: Public Safety Officers took a late reported stolen vehicle from a
student. The vehicle was stolen from the north parking lot the evening prior. The victim
had contacted the Phoenix Police after the incident.
Sept. 14; 12:15 pm: Public Safety staff was contacted regarding harassment in the
Student Union. The incident was forwarded for administrative action.
Sept. 18; 12:25 pm: Public Safety staff was contacted reference a stolen bike. The bike
had been locked to a handrail at the “E” building. The bike and cable were not located
and the incident was not captured on CCTV.
Sept. 18; 1:55 pm: Public Safety staff was contacted regarding a burglary from a vehicle
parked in the Observation Lot. Entry was gained by breaking a window and personal
property was removed. No further information at this time.
Sept. 20; 9:45 am: Public Safety was advised that a small hole was found in a window of
Osborn 206. The hole appears to have been caused by a projectile such as a BB or pellet
during the previous 25 hour period. No further information is available at this time.
Sept. 20; 11:50 am: Public Safety was contacted regarding the welfare of a distressed
student. The student was calmed down and referred to the counseling department.
Sept. 20; 7:45 pm: The Safety Office has received complaints regarding smoking near
the “B” building. During routine patrol Safety staff observed a student smoking in the
area. Contact was made with the student who indicated he was aware of the policy and
walked away. He was contacted a second time while still smoking. The incident was
forwarded for administrative action.
Three medical incidents were reported to Safety this week. None required medical
transport.
Two non-injury Motor vehicle accidents were reported during this week.

Sept. 4; 3:00 pm: Minor damage was noticed on a charge chord on a school golf cart.
Upon investigation it was determined that the damage was most likely accidental. No
crime.
Sept. 6; 2:35 pm: Public Safety staff was contacted regarding a theft of construction
material that occurred at the northeast corner of Hoy Field. The incident was captured
on CCTV and a suspect was identified. Follow-up investigation was completed and the
suspect was arrested and charged with the theft of construction material. The suspect was
turned over to Phoenix Police to be booked into jail.
Sept. 7; 12:20 pm: Public Safety staff was contacted reference harassing emails received
by staff. The incident was documented and the investigation is continuing.
One medical incident was reported to Safety this week. The subject did not require
medical transport.
No Motor vehicle accidents were reported during this week.

August 27; 3:05 pm: Public Safety was contacted by Fire Science staff regarding a
subject who passes himself off as staff and attempts to sell advertising. When the subject
returns Staff will contact Safety so he can be given a trespass warning.
August 27; 6:05 pm: Public Safety was contacted by a student advising his bicycle had
been stolen in the prior two hours from the bike rack located near the E building. The
security cable securing the bike was not recovered. There is no suspect information or
CCTV footage of evidentiary value.
August 27; 7:45 pm: Public Safety was advised of two thefts from lockers located in the
football locker room. Neither locker nor lock was damaged. CCTV footage was provided
to coaching staff to review for potential suspect information. No further information at
this time.
August 29; 8:40 pm: Public Safety was contacted by a student reporting her vehicle had
been stolen from the lower level of the parking garage during the prior 4.5 hours. CCTV
from four cameras was checked with negative results. Phoenix PD was contacted and
entered the information into NCIC (National Crime Information Center). No further
information at this time.
August 29; 9:40 am: Public Safety was contacted regarding the theft of a student’s
cell phone from the weight room the day before. Several students left backpacks in the
unsecured weight room while they were running on the track August 28th. No suspect
information available at this time.
August 31; 11:40 am: Public Safety was contacted by staff regarding the theft of a
Phoenix College lap top computer from a second floor classroom in the B building. The
theft occurred sometime between August 27 and 29. No further information at this time.

vending machine unsecured outside the Gym. No forced entry into the machine was
observed. The vending machine company was contacted and CCTV was reviewed.
Several subjects on camera were observed entering the machine and removing items over
a period of days. The investigation is continuing in an attempt to identify the suspects.
Other Activities
Two medical incidents were reported to Safety this week. Neither incident required
medical transport for follow-up treatment/observation.
